An innovative, simple, fast, and less toxic high-performance liquid chromatographic method for determination of prednisone in capsules BJPS
Silva,Pedro Henrique Reis da; Enéas,Paula Cristina Rezende; Fernandes,Christian; Pianetti,Gerson Antônio.
ABSTRACT Prednisone is an anti-inflammatory steroid drug widely used in clinical practice. However, no high-performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) method has been described in the literature for the determination of prednisone in capsules until now. Thus, an HPLC method was developed using a C18 (250x4.0, 5 µm) column, with methanol:water (70:30) as mobile phase at a flow rate of 1 mL/min and detection at 240 nm. The developed method was validated following current Brazilian legislation. Additionally, linearity was assessed by evaluating the assumptions of normality, homoscedasticity, and independency of residuals, and the fit to the linear model. The method showed linearity (r2>0.99) over the range of 14.0-26.0 µg/mL, selectivity, precision...

Description and phylogenetic position of Plagiolemma distortum sp. nov., a new raphid diatom (Bacillariophyceae) from French coastal waters ArchiMer
Nezan, Elisabeth; Bilien, Gwenael; Boulben, Sylviane; Mertens, Kenneth; Chomerat, Nicolas.
A new marine raphid diatom, Plagiolemma distortum Nézan, sp. nov. is described from plankton samples from the Atlantic Ocean, south Brittany (north-western France), where it was regularly observed, but never in high abundances. Cells have an unusual and complex shape under light microscopy (LM) depending on their position and orientation. The two valves are highly vaulted and narrow in width (transapical axis). Cells contain four complexly lobed plastids and a variable number of refractive granules without particular localization. In addition, capsules containing motile cells were observed. Ultrastructural details of the frustules were investigated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The girdle bands are simple. Each valve possesses a sigmoid raphe...

Pre-treatments effect on the tetrazolium test on Epidendrum barbaricum Hágsater & Dodson seeds Acta Agron. (Palmira)
Salazar Mercado,Seir Antonio; Botello Delgado,Edison Alexander; Quintero Caleño,Jesús David.
Abstract Orchids are affected by several factors that impair their spreading, which is necessary to know the viability of their seeds. The aim of this research was to determine the most suitable preconditioning treatment to potentiate the tetrazolium test in Epidendrum barbaricum seeds. Initially, the mature capsules were collected near the city of Pasto in the Department of Narino (Colombia), and seeds were obtained. Subsequently, the seeds were submitted to four pretreatments: immersion in distilled water, 1% hypochlorite, 10% alcohol and 10% sucrose. Seeds were then rinsed with distilled water and exposed to two concentrations of 2,3,5-trifenyl tetrazolium chloride (0.25%, 1%) and different exposure times (6, 12, 24, and 48 hours). To perform the tests,...
